Able Malaysians wave “purple flag of generosity” to help others in need
The Malaysian relief initiative “KitaJagaKita,” born out of unprecedented struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic, has introduced the “Purple Flag Movement” to support those in need. In the past months, desperate Malaysians have resorted to putting up a white flag outside their homes as a plea for help – the answering call is KitaJaga.co, a resource aimed at providing safe and convenient means to help these Malaysians.
KitaJaga.co is a local website: to join the Purple Flag Movement, one simply must register on the website and drop off any donations you have to homes bearing white flags, at no cost to either donor or receiver.
[Donations may include daily necessities such as dry groceries, baby formula, and stationery, to name a few.]
Reza Razali, founder of Kita Jaga, said of the Purple Flag Movement which is barely a month old, “At a time where sentiments around the country were at an all-time low, we wanted to create a solution that demonstrates the positive and generous spirit that lives within all Malaysians by bringing people from all walks of life together to help one another through a simple flag.
“We have created a platform for Malaysians to actually do something about it – a solution for Malaysians by Malaysians.”
