Study highlights changing health concerns among the ages
Specific age groups are observed to have differing approaches to health and wellbeing, according to Innova Market Insights, a global researcher in the food and beverage industry.
A 2018 US survey points to younger consumers adopting a more holistic view of health as more and more Generation Z (Gen Z) consumers have reportedly increased physical activity to ward off the ill effects of a sedentary lifestyle; Generation Y (Gen Y/“Millennials”) focus on a balanced mind and body; and Generation X (Gen X) consumers emphasise mental health, with 55% seeking to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing.
Meanwhile, the older Baby Boomers are more focused on healthy aging, with 52% of US Boomers changing their diet and eating patterns to better their chances.
Lu Ann Williams of Innova Market Insights has said that food and beverage innovators should first understand the lifestyles and attitudes of their target audiences before healthier food production.
