Heart patients must exercise with caution – doctor
A professor from India has cautioned heart patients to seek doctor’s advice before performing a high intensity workout.
According to Dr Madhavi Konetigari, said it can be deadly if a patient with heart condition performed such an exercise strenuously prior to seeking advice from a medical expert.
She said prescribing the right sort of workout was imperative to ensure a patient did not experience “an overdose of exercise,” which said could have a negative repercussion.
“Acute exercise overdoses and chronic over training must be avoided in persons who have limited reserves because of chronic disease or disability,” said the doctor from Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences University, Tirupati.
Speaking at the World Conference on Exercise Medicine, Dr Madhavi advised those with zero knowledge about exercise to start slowly.
