Not all women suitable for receiving HPV vaccine: Experts
In recent years, many Chinese women have traveled abroad to receive the HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. However, experts indicate that the drug, used to defend against human papillomavirus, is not always universally effective.
Experts called upon more women to raise their awareness of the symptoms and receive cervical cancer screening checks at regular intervals.
According to a chief physician from Tianjin Center Hospital of Gynecology Obstetrics, north China, she said the morbidity rate of cervical cancer among illnesses related to the female reproductive system ranked first in China and it seemed to occur at a young age.
At present, there is no HPV vaccine licensed in China. Therefore, a majority of mainland women have gone to Hong Kong or Macao special administrative regions in south China for help.
It is reported that HPV has been proved to be the main cause leading to cervical cancer.
Experts suggested those women who want to receive the HPV vaccine must find a qualified medical institution to do so. Meanwhile, it is important to receive regular screening checks even after receiving the vaccine.
