Mukhriz: PAS politicised DPM’s statement on diabetes
YAN: PAS has politicised the statement of Tan Sri MuhyiddinYassin on diabetes, which involved former Kedah MenteriBesar Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak, whereas the Deputy Prime Minister had never intended to offend anyone, said Kedah MenteriBesarDatukMukhrizTun Dr Mahathir.
“I was there when he (Muhyiddin) was making his speech … He merely touched on the 2014 Budget, then raised the issue on the abolition of the sugar subsidy and, among other things, on the problem of diabetes.
“Diabetes is most rampant in Kedah, that was his (Muhyiddin’s) only intention, no intention whatsoever to talk about anything else,” he told Bernama and RTM during an interview, here yesterday.
As such, Mukhriz, who is also the Kedah BarisanNasional (BN) chairman, called on everyone not to look at the statement issued by Muhyiddin negatively.
He said PAS had no other intention in the issue, except to politicise it. However, he was convinced that the people in the state constituency of Sungai Limau understood the matter.
“I feel we should not entertain such matters (the PAS move to politicise the statement) as it has nothing to do with what we are doing in the Sungai Limau state constituency, i.e, the by-election where the decision of the voters must be based on matters pertaining to the future of the people (voters) themselves,” he said.
During his meeting with parents and teachers at SekolahKebangsaan Sungai Limau, here, two days ago, Muhyiddin, who is also the BN deputy chairman, had explained on the abolition of the sugar subsidy in the 2014 Budget.
