Chinplants top plastic surgery trends
MOVE aside breast augmentation, botox and liposuction, and give way to chinplants – the fastest growing plastic surgery trend among all major demographics in the United States.
Chin augmentation has grown more than those other three procedures combined, according to statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Last year, 20,680 chin augmentations were recorded, a 71% increase from 2010 and nearly an even split between men and women. The largest increase was seen in patients aged 40 and lower.
Says ASPS president, Dr. Malcolm Roth, “The chin and jawline are among the first areas to show signs of ageing. People are considering chin augmentation as a way to restore their youthful looks.”
He added that as more people see themselves on video/chat technology, they may notice that their jawlines are not as sharp as they want them to be.
