Biocon invests in new integrated research and development centre
INDIA – Biocon has invested in new integrated research and development centre, Biocon Research Center (BRC), in South-East Asia to conduct research on biologics that will deal with unmet medical needs.
The 200,000-square-feet facility will accommodate the biologics process science labs, molecular biology lab, molecular characterization, functional bioassay and formulations development lab.
An independent quality group at BRC will make sure that compliance to good laboratory practices and international regulatory guidelines for developing biologics and biosimilars are achieved, the company said.
Biocon Group chairman and managing director Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said: “It will epitomize Biocon’s efforts to galvanize the best talent available both in India and from across the globe, and offer them an intellectually stimulating environment combined with an enabling ecosystem to conduct path breaking research for biopharmaceuticals.”
