IHH Healthcare completes US$890 mn takeover of Island Hospital
IHH Healthcare, a leading integrated healthcare provider, has finalised its acquisition of Island Hospital, a 600-bed facility in Penang, Malaysia, for approximately MYR3.9 billion (US$890 million). This strategic move expands IHH’s footprint in Malaysia to 18 hospitals, strengthening its presence, particularly in the northern region.
The acquisition bolsters IHH’s portfolio, adding to its existing network of 11 Pantai and four Gleneagles hospitals in the country. Island Hospital, known for its clinical excellence and appeal to international patients, features nine centers of excellence with nearly 120 specialists. The facility is renowned for its expertise in orthopaedics, cardiology, oncology, gastroenterology, and general surgery.
The integration of Island Hospital is expected to deliver better patient outcomes and leverage its land assets for future development.
