Taiwan, China reach consensus on new drug clinical tests: MAC
TAIPEI -Taiwan and China reached a “concrete consensus” on clinical tests for new drugs, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), Taiwan’s top China policy maker, said Thursday.
The apparent breakthrough came during a recent visit by Vice Health Minister Shiu Ming-neng to China, where he met with related Chinese agencies to communicate on cooperation in research and development of new drugs.
Representatives of both sides came to their “consensus” on cooperation in clinical tests of drugs, recognition of clinical data and data using for reference in drug inspection and registration, all in a bid to simplify screening and approval procedure and cut out double tests, according to MAC Deputy Minister Wu Mei-hung.
She said that Taiwan and China exchanged views on the prevention and control of the Ebola virus but had not touched on R&D for an Ebola vaccine.
