Indonesia's Hospital Ship Sets Sail for Gaza with Vital AidIndonesia has deployed the hospital aid vessel KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat 992, carrying 200 tons of vital humanitarian supplies destined for Gaza. The vessel, focused on aid delivery, won’t function as a floating hospital.

The ship will dock at Al-Arish Port in Egypt for four days, transferring supplies to the Egyptian Red Crescent for Gaza distribution. Essential items include food, medicine, tents, and clean water.

Efforts are underway to secure permits for expanded medical operations, with talks ongoing for field hospital operations or utilizing the hospital auxiliary ship. Conditions on the ground must be conducive for advanced medical services.

Equipped for major and minor medical procedures, the KRI Radjiman dr. Wedyodiningrat 992 stands as Indonesia’s third hospital ship. Its capabilities include surgery, psychiatric clinics, CT scanners, and an emergency room.

With a team of 16, including general practitioners, pharmacists, and nurses, the ship can adapt for humanitarian missions beyond Indonesia. Indonesia’s mission reflects its commitment to providing comprehensive medical aid in conflict and humanitarian crises.
